Peter Ashwin | Industry Leader in Risk Management

Peter is a former Australian Army special forces officer who has been consulting in the international major events environment for 20 years and is widely recognized as an industry leader in event security, risk management and integration strategies to align host cities and organizing committees with Government Security Authorities, law enforcement agencies and the private security sector within complex, multi-agency environments. He has consulted on and led multi-national project teams across a wide range of major events including six Olympic Games (from 2000 – 2012), the Baku 2015 European Games , Azerbaijan (Director of Security), the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup (Australia & NZ), the 2010 G8/G20 Summit (Toronto), and some of North America’s most iconic festivals & events including the Calgary Stampede, the Canadian National Exhibition “the Ex”, Memphis in May International Festival, Philadelphia Flower Show, Pasadena Tournament of Roses, Kentucky Derby Festival, the Beale Street Entertainment District (City of Memphis) and the 2019 F1 Festival (Chicago).

As a technical writer (security and risk management), he has supported eight Olympic and Commonwealth Games Host City Bids including two successful campaigns – Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup. Peter is also an expert witness, a Director on the World Board, International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) since 2015 and a guest lecturer at the IFEA Event Management School (since 2015) and IAVM Academy of Venue Safety & Security (since 2017). While he still calls Australia home, Peter is based out of Boise, Idaho and Montreal, Quebec.
